Ki Tetze 2 (143)

Our understanding of God is very important tot he way we approach and understand scripture.

For instance the greek latin church had a greek idea of God.

1-God is not approachable

2-God is a dark shadowy figure and you don't know what he wants and you can define His will.

1Jn 1:5 This is the message which we have heard from Him and declare to you, that God is light and in Him is no darkness at all.

Joh 12:35 Then Jesus said to them, "A little while longer the light is with you. Walk while you have the light, lest darkness overtake you; he who walks in darkness does not know where he is going.

Yeshua is also light. Maybe because they are one!

Without his light we will not know where we are going.

What is his light?

Pro 6:23 For the commandment is a lamp, And the law a light; Reproofs of instruction are the way of life,

Torah is light.

Gen 1:3 Then God said, "Let there be light"; and there was light.

Gen 1:4 And God saw the light, that it was good; and God divided the light from the darkness.

This light could not have been the Sun. It was not created yet. So what was it?

In this scripture the term in Et- Haor. “The light”

The numerical value of the letters Aleph,Tav,Hey,Aleph,Vav, Resh is 613.

God is light- not shadow. He wants us to know his will.

3-God is spiritual and not concerned with the physical day to day things on the earth, such as , what we eat, what we say and what we do. The idea is that everything is done spiritually now.

Mat 5:17 "Do not think that I came to destroy the Law or the Prophets. I did not come to destroy but to fulfill.

Mat 5:18 For assuredly, I say to you, till heaven and earth pass away, one jot or one tittle will by no means pass from the law till all is fulfilled.

Mat 5:19 Whoever therefore breaks one of the least of these commandments, and teaches men so, shall be called least in the kingdom of heaven; but whoever does and teaches them, he shall be called great in the kingdom of heaven.

Mat 5:20 For I say to you, that unless your righteousness exceeds the righteousness of the scribes and Pharisees, you will by no means enter the kingdom of heaven.

He fulfilled it. “Now we keep his comandments in our heart.” they say.

Cany you keep the mitzvot in your heart and not do them?

Luk 6:43 "For a good tree does not bear bad fruit, nor does a bad tree bear good fruit.

Luk 6:44 For every tree is known by its own fruit. For men do not gather figs from thorns, nor do they gather grapes from a bramble bush.

Luk 6:45 A good man out of the good treasure of his heart brings forth good; and an evil man out of the evil treasure of his heart brings forth evil. For out of the abundance of the heart his mouth speaks.

This Torah Portion is fulled with Torah instrutcion for every day life.

Things that we have been taught that the Father does not care about.

He wants us to walk in light not darkeness. Walking around guessing what to do.

He gave us good instruction. It is out attitude towards the instructions that makes us who we are.

Deu 22:8 "When you build a new house, then you shall make a parapet for your roof, that you may not bring guilt of bloodshed on your household if anyone falls from it.

Deu 22:9 "You shall not sow your vineyard with different kinds of seed, lest the yield of the seed which you have sown and the fruit of your vineyard be defiled.

Deu 22:10 "You shall not plow with an ox and a donkey together.

Deu 22:11 "You shall not wear a garment of different sorts, such as wool and linen mixed together.

Deu 22:12 "You shall make tassels on the four corners of the clothing with which you cover yourself.

For all of the laws about common life you can find a spirtual concenpt but this does not mean that the spirtual concept is all it is. They are practical also/

Deu 22:8 "When you build a new house, then you shall make a parapet for your roof, that you may not bring guilt of bloodshed on your household if anyone falls from it.

This comandement is a safety concern. Roofs were flat on top.

This was also a hang out where family would gather together. Kind of like a porch today. In the ark it would be hard to see the edge of the roof.

If somoene fell from the roof and you had no railing you would be guilty of bloodshed.

The roof was a common place to pary also.

Act 10:9 The next day, as they went on their journey and drew near the city, Peter went up on the housetop to pray, about the sixth hour.

It was determined by the sages that the rail must be atleast 10 Hand Breaths high inorder to keep people from falling over the rail.

The rail is a safe guard to keep someone from falling off the edge.

Much like the fances of scripture.

I have seen so many people bauck at the extra comands that were given to us by rabbi's and said that the fence laws are bad. They use the example of Adam in the garden.

Gen 2:16 And the LORD God commanded the man, saying, "Of every tree of the garden you may freely eat;

Gen 2:17 but of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil you shall not eat, for in the day that you eat of it you shall surely die."

Gen 3:1 Now the serpent was more cunning than any beast of the field which the LORD God had made. And he said to the woman, "Has God indeed said, 'You shall not eat of every tree of the garden'?"

Gen 3:2 And the woman said to the serpent, "We may eat the fruit of the trees of the garden;

Gen 3:3 but of the fruit of the tree which is in the midst of the garden, God has said, 'You shall not eat it, nor shall you touch it, lest you die.' "

did you see thew diference?

God said not to eat from the tree. Somehow when the word got to Eve it was you will die if you touvcht he tree.

Now if you don't touvh the tree you will not have the problem with eating from it.

This was a fenace more than likely put in place by Adam.

Was this bad?

The scripture tells us not to add to or take away from his comandments.

Deu 12:32 "Whatever I command you, be careful to observe it; you shall not add to it nor take away from it.

However is putting a fenace actually adding to the comandmants of God?

Only if you you call the fence and comandmament.

One good quote I geard was “Don't tear down a fenace until you know why it's there.”

I submit that we do the same with the fence laws of the torah scollars that were before us.

Messiah himself made fence laws.

Mat 5:21 "You have heard that it was said to those of old, 'YOU SHALL NOT MURDER, and whoever murders will be in danger of the judgment.'

Mat 5:22 But I say to you that whoever is angry with his brother without a cause shall be in danger of the judgment. And whoever says to his brother, 'Raca!' shall be in danger of the council. But whoever says, 'You fool!' shall be in danger of hell fire.

Mat 5:27 "You have heard that it was said to those of old, 'YOU SHALL NOT COMMIT ADULTERY.'

Mat 5:28 But I say to you that whoever looks at a woman to lust for her has already committed adultery with her in his heart.

See the Messiah clearly states the Torah and then gives his council of the observance. Not much different than the way we train out children.

We tell them to stay away from things. The hot stove. For instance. If they get near it willt hey get burned. Maybe not but kids being kids could easily make a mistake and touch it. This is prevented by a fenace we put there.

The Fence is to keep you from harm.

People Often due to our rebellious nature want to push the boundries. Climb the fences. Get as close to the danger as we can without actually sinning.

Many people do this with the ideas in out heads. We ebtertain these things but don't act on them. Paul gave us a fenace to protect us from this.

2Co 10:4 For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal but mighty in God for pulling down strongholds,

2Co 10:5 casting down arguments and every high thing that exalts itself against the knowledge of God, bringing every thought into captivity to the obedience of Christ,

Deu 22:9 "You shall not sow your vineyard with different kinds of seed, lest the yield of the seed which you have sown and the fruit of your vineyard be defiled.

Seed

זֶרַע

zera‛

zeh'-rah

From H2232; seed; figuratively fruit, plant, sowing time, posterity: - X carnally, child, fruitful, seed (-time), sowing-time.

Different Kinds

kil'ayim

kil-ah'-yim

Dual of H3608 in the original sense of separation; two heterogeneities: - divers seeds (-e kinds), mingled (seed).

Root word

H3608

כֶּלֶא

kele'

keh'-leh

From H3607; a prison: - prison. Compare H3610, H3628.

Total KJV occurrences: 10

Many different kinds of people in prisons.

The idea here is planting seeds in a vineyard. Vinyards are usually planted by garfting frtom other crops.

So some sages believe this is speaking about growing ground plants between the rows of vines. And that only one ground seed may be planted. But the palnts must not be close enough to eachother to get sustance from eachother. Each plant must be able to grow without stealing nutrience from others.

Same with peolple.

2Th 3:10 For even when we were with you, we commanded you this: If anyone will not work, neither shall he eat.

If you look at

Lev 19:19 'You shall keep My statutes. You shall not let your livestock breed with another kind. You shall not sow your field with mixed seed. Nor shall a garment of mixed linen and wool come upon you.

Feild

שָׂדַי שָׂדֶה

śâdeh śâday

saw-deh', saw-dah'ee

From an unused root meaning to spread out; a field (as flat): - country, field, ground, land, soil, X wild.

Vinyard is used in Duet. 22:9

כֶּרֶם

kerem

keh'-rem

From an unused root of uncertain meaning; a garden or vineyard: - vines, (increase of the) vineyard (-s), vintage. See also H1021.

Deu 22:10 "You shall not plow with an ox and a donkey together.

These are two diffeent kids of animals and they pull in different ways. One is stronger than the other.

These two animals dont work well together especially if they are yoked together.

Seems to be common sense. What could the spirtual conection be?

Paul Spoke of this idea and gave us commentary.

2Co 6:14 Do not be unequally yoked together with unbelievers. For what fellowship has righteousness with lawlessness? And what communion has light with darkness?

This scripture is often quoted for marriage but it is refering to your life.

Who people are yoked together they must work together. If you have unbelivers trying to be yoked with believers guess which direction they will go?

Jas 3:8 But no man can tame the tongue. It is an unruly evil, full of deadly poison.

Jas 3:9 With it we bless our God and Father, and with it we curse men, who have been made in the similitude of God.

Jas 3:10 Out of the same mouth proceed blessing and cursing. My brethren, these things ought not to be so.

Jas 3:11 Does a spring send forth fresh water and bitter from the same opening?

Jas 3:12 Can a fig tree, my brethren, bear olives, or a grapevine bear figs? Thus no spring yields both salt water and fresh.

This shows a mixture and how this mixture is not good.

Being Yoked with an unbeliever is counter productive.

Deu 22:11 "You shall not wear a garment of different sorts, such as wool and linen mixed together.

This is another mixture that should not be done.

However the priest Garments have that mixture.

We are not to do the same with our garments. The preists Garments were special. They were set apart only for him. Much like the oin ointing oil that was not supposed to be made for common use.

Now tradtional Tzitit were made of Lenin except for the blue cord which was wool.

Why this mixture?

Exo 19:6 And you shall be to Me a kingdom of priests and a holy nation.' These are the words which you shall speak to the children of Israel."

Deu 22:12 "You shall make tassels on the four corners of the clothing with which you cover yourself.

Num 15:38 "Speak to the children of Israel: Tell them to make tassels on the corners of their garments throughout their generations, and to put a blue thread in the tassels of the corners.

Num 15:39 And you shall have the tassel, that you may look upon it and remember all the commandments of the LORD and do them, and that you may not follow the harlotry to which your own heart and your own eyes are inclined,

Num 15:40 and that you may remember and do all My commandments, and be holy for your God.

צִיצִת

tsı̂ytsith

tsee-tseeth'

Feminine of H6731; a floral or wing like projection, that is, a fore lock of hair, a tassel: - fringe, lock.

In Numbers 22

גְּדִל

gedil

ghed-eel'

From H1431 (in the sense of twisting); thread, that is, a tassel or festoon: - fringe, wreath.

Chains!!!

This is why the Karites have braided chains for their tzitzits.

However Hebrew wording here makes it the twisting and wrapping of the tradtional Tzitzit to be fulfilling oif the coamndment.

Tzitzit Teaching.
